The Peppered Chef – Andrew Carmellini
Did you catch the video we shared on FlashPepper’s FB page Monday with Andrew Carmellini making the bacon wrapped turkey? We thought you might enjoy a bit more about Andrew Carmellini, right?
Carmellini is a self-proclaimed American Chef, living and cooking in New York City. His evolution from fourteen year old cook to acclaimed chef and restaurateur is the stuff of “this is how you do it.” The word used most when talking about chefdom is passion. You either have it or you don’t but there’s a way of going about developing what happens with it that Carmellini really gets. You can read all about the details on his website, the list is too long to run through here. Suffice to say it is impressive and could well serve as a roadmap for the aspiring chefs out there.
Carmellini’s press is impressive as well but as the NY Times wrote He Won’t Upstage His Food. Jeff Gordinier speaks of many things in his article but what he discovers is that Carmellini is a cook’s cook… “ a person who is so dedicated to his craft, and so much more interested in how to roast a piece of meat than being on television,”…
If you want to get a real feel for the chef, get his take on the Food Republic “10 Things I Hate List.” They gave him guest editor rights and he ran with it. Suffice to say he is pragmatic making it perfectly clear that he simply loves what he does and the fact that it provides people a happy experience in the process makes it a great way to earn a living.
